Taraba at 35: Ngurore Urges Unity, Peace, Hails Kefas, Nyame, Others

As Taraba State marks its 35th anniversary, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Babangida Ngurore, has called on residents and political stakeholders to set aside their differences and work together for the continued development of the state.

Ngurore, an All Progressives Congress chieftain, made the appeal in a goodwill message to mark the anniversary. He stressed that the issues uniting the people far outweigh those that divide them.

“What binds us collectively is greater than what separates us,” Ngurore said, adding that personal, political, ethnic and other differences should not be allowed to undermine the collective interest of the state.

He commended the founding fathers of Taraba for laying a solid foundation for the state’s growth since its creation.

He also praised Governor Agbu Kefas, former governors Jolly Nyame and Darius Ishaku, the late Danbaba Suntai, former military administrators and other stakeholders for their contributions to the state’s development.

The former deputy speaker described Taraba as a state with enormous potential, citing its favourable climate, strategic location, human resources, energy prospects and natural resources as major assets.

He said the relative peace and stability in Taraba had played a key role in sustaining its development and promoting peaceful coexistence among its diverse communities.

Ngurore noted that the state’s greatest strength remained its diversity, peace and unity. He also commended traditional institutions for preserving Taraba’s cultural heritage and promoting harmony among the people.

He urged all citizens and friends of Taraba to use the anniversary to reflect on the state’s achievements, build on positive legacies and renew their commitment to its progress.

“What binds the people of Taraba collectively must remain a priority above personal interests, political differences and other considerations,” he said.

According to Ngurore, the foundations for economic growth being strengthened under the Kefas administration should be sustained, regardless of political differences.

He called on all stakeholders to build on the legacies of Taraba’s founding fathers and work together towards a more prosperous and united state.
