Terrorists Kill Two Women in Kaduna for Resisting Sexual Assault
Armed bandits have reportedly killed two young women in Kaduna State after they refused to submit to sexual assault while in captivity, highlighting the worsening brutality of criminal groups operating in Nigeria’s northwest.
According to reports by Daily Trust, the victims were abducted during a raid on a community in the state and taken to a terrorist hideout. While in captivity, the women were allegedly pressured by their captors to engage in sexual acts but resisted.
Sources familiar with the incident said the refusal angered the attackers, who subsequently killed the victims.
The tragic incident shows the growing pattern of sexual violence used by bandits and terrorist groups as a tool of intimidation and control in northern Nigeria. Analysts and rights groups have repeatedly warned that women and girls abducted during attacks are often subjected to rape, forced marriages, and other forms of abuse.
Kaduna State has remained one of the epicentres of banditry and terrorist violence, with frequent reports of killings, kidnappings, and attacks on rural communities. In recent months, several communities have come under siege, with residents either killed, abducted, or displaced.
Security experts say the continued targeting of women reflects a broader humanitarian crisis in the region, where armed groups operate with increasing impunity despite ongoing military efforts.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not issued an official statement specifically addressing the latest killings, but operations against bandit groups are said to be ongoing.
