TINUBU CONDEMNS PLATEAU ATTACKS, URGES GOVERNOR MUTFWANG TO RESOLVE UNDERLYING ISSUES

President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the recent bloodshed in Plateau State, which claimed over 40 lives. He strongly condemns the violence and extends his sympathies to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the state government, and the people of Plateau.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed in a statement that President Tinubu urged Governor Mutfwang to summon the necessary political will to resolve the crisis and establish enduring peace. Bayo Onanuga said, “The ongoing violence between communities in Plateau State, rooted in misunderstandings between different ethnic and religious groups, must cease.”
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of love and unity beyond religious and ethnic lines, saying, “We cannot allow this devastation and the tit-for-tat attacks to continue. Enough is enough.” He instructed security agencies to thoroughly investigate the crisis and identify those responsible for orchestrating the violent acts.

Bayo Onanuga further stated that the Federal Government remains committed to supporting Governor Mutfwang and the Plateau State government in promoting dialogue, fostering social cohesion, and ensuring accountability. “The political leadership in Plateau State, led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, must address the root cause of this age-long problem,” Bayo Onanuga added, quoting the President.
Bayo Onanuga also noted that President Tinubu has discussed the problems with Governor Mutfwang over time and offered suggestions for lasting peace. Bayo Onanuga reiterated that it’s time to tackle the underlying issues fairly and find a lasting solution.
