Top Iranian Spy Chief Majid Khademi Killed in Israeli Airstrike
Israel has announced the killing of Major General Majid Khademi, the head of intelligence for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in what officials describe as a targeted airstrike in Tehran.
According to multiple international reports, the strike took place amid the ongoing Israel–Iran conflict, with Israeli military sources claiming the operation dealt a significant blow to Iran’s intelligence and command structures.
Khademi, a senior figure within Iran’s security apparatus, had only recently assumed leadership of the IRGC’s intelligence division after his predecessor was killed in earlier strikes. His death marks one of the most high-profile assassinations of an Iranian official in the current conflict.
Iranian state media confirmed the death but provided limited details on the circumstances, referring to him as a “martyr.”
The development is widely seen as a major escalation in the war, which has already seen repeated strikes on military infrastructure and senior officials on both sides. Analysts warn that the killing of such a high-ranking intelligence chief could provoke further retaliation from Iran and deepen regional instability.
The strike comes as diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire continue, with international mediators proposing a temporary halt to hostilities. However, ongoing attacks and counterattacks suggest that tensions remain extremely high.
