Troops Arrest 15-Year-Old Over Alleged Role in Killing of General in Borno
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested a 15-year-old suspect in connection with the killing of a senior military officer and others in Borno State.
The suspect, identified simply as Tijjani, was reportedly apprehended on Sunday while on an errand. According to military sources, he is alleged to have links with a terrorist group responsible for the attack that led to the death of Oseni Braimah, alongside another officer and two soldiers.
The late officer was said to be the Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI.
The incident occurred on Thursday when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military base in the area.
In a video cited by reports, the teenager claimed he was arrested in Ngamdu, Borno State, and alleged that he had participated in attacks on Benisheik and Ngamdu.
He further claimed that the group operated from Jilli, where they reportedly regrouped after the attack. According to the account, he had been sent to procure logistics when he was intercepted by troops.
Security authorities have yet to issue an official statement detailing the arrest or confirming the claims made in the video.
The North East has remained a hotspot of insurgency linked to Boko Haram, with Operation HADIN KAI leading counter-terrorism operations in the region.
