Delegations from both the United States and Iran have arrived in Islamabad for high-stakes negotiations aimed at stabilizing a fragile ceasefire and preventing a renewed escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

According to multiple sources, a U.S. government aircraft carrying senior officials landed in Islamabad earlier on Saturday, while an Iranian delegation; led by senior political and foreign policy figures, also arrived ahead of the talks. The meetings mark one of the most significant diplomatic engagements between Washington and Tehran in recent years.

The negotiations are being hosted and facilitated by Pakistan, which has positioned itself as a neutral mediator following weeks of regional escalation. Islamabad has tightened security across the capital as global attention shifts to the outcome of the discussions.

Reports indicate that the U.S. delegation includes senior officials tasked with negotiating ceasefire extensions and broader regional security guarantees, while the Iranian delegation is pushing for conditions including sanctions relief, guarantees over regional military activity, and implementation of previously agreed ceasefire terms.

The talks come amid a fragile truce that has faced repeated strains due to ongoing tensions in Lebanon, maritime security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz, and disputes over sanctions and regional influence.

Officials from both sides are expected to engage in a mix of direct and mediated discussions under Pakistani supervision, with analysts warning that the outcome could determine whether the ceasefire holds or collapses into renewed conflict.

Despite deep mistrust, diplomatic observers say the fact that both delegations are physically present in Islamabad represents a rare and critical opportunity for de-escalation.
