Yilwatda Leads APC Delegation to Console Nasir El-Rufai in Abuja
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on Saturday paid a condolence visit to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.

Yilwatda, who led a delegation of party stakeholders to El-Rufai’s residence in Abuja, described the loss as painful, noting that the APC stands in solidarity with the former governor and his family during the period of mourning.

Hajiya Umma El-Rufai reportedly died on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, after a protracted illness. She was widely regarded as a matriarch whose influence shaped the values and public service trajectory of her son.
In his remarks, Yilwatda emphasized the importance of family and urged El-Rufai to take solace in the legacy of his late mother, adding that the party shares in his grief.

“The APC family is deeply saddened by this loss. We pray for the repose of her soul and for strength for Mallam El-Rufai and the entire family,” he said.
The condolence visit comes at a time when El-Rufai remains a prominent figure within the APC, despite recent political developments that have kept him in the public spotlight.
Meanwhile, sympathisers, political allies, and associates have continued to troop to El-Rufai’s Abuja residence to pay their respects, describing the late Hajiya Umma as a pillar of strength to her family and community.
