PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS AVM SADDIQ KAITA AS CHAIRMAN, GOVERNING COUNCIL OF BAYERO UNIVERSITY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Air Vice Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (Rtd.) as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano. Kaita replaces Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who also serves as the Federal Housing Authority’s (FHA) chairman.

Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, in a statement, announced the appointment, saying, “The President made the change to enable Dr. Gawuna to concentrate on his position at the FHA.” Kaita brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as Director of Strategy at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation before retiring from the Nigerian Air Force.

Saddiq Kaita is known for his contributions to training and standardisation within the Air Force. His appointment is expected to bring stability and direction to Bayero University, Kano. Kaita’s leadership skills and experience will likely play a significant role in shaping the university’s future.

The President’s decision to appoint a seasoned military officer to lead the university’s governing council underscores his commitment to excellence and good governance in Nigeria’s educational institutions.
