NIGERIAN PHILANTHROPIST COMMISSIONED INTO IRISH POLICE FORCE
A Nigerian-born philanthropist and partner of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Correspondents Chapel, Chief Dr. Abel Ayodeji, has been commissioned into the prestigious An Garda Síochána (Irish Police Service) after completing his training at the Garda Police College, Ireland.

NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel Chairman Felix Ojo, in a statement, congratulated Chief Dr. Abel Ayodeji on his historic commissioning, saying, “The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Correspondents’ Chapel congratulates Chief Prince Dr. Abel Sunday Adewunmi Ayodeji, the Asiwaju of Owu Sokori and Asoju Oba of Owu Kingdom, on his commissioning into the An Garda Síochána.”

Ayodeji was officially attested and commissioned on Friday, August 22, 2025, marking his full induction as a serving officer in one of the most respected law enforcement and intelligence institutions in the world. This milestone is not only a personal achievement for Ayodeji but a source of pride for Nigeria and the entire African community in the diaspora.

As a seasoned community development specialist, Ayodeji has led and supported numerous initiatives in Finland, Ireland, and across Europe, focusing on integration, healthcare, family advocacy, and multicultural cooperation. He has worked with the European Union, United Nations, and national governments on various projects addressing social development, anti-domestic violence, and migrant integration.
The NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel is proud to associate with a trailblazer whose life reflects the values of discipline, service, and global citizenship. “We salute his commitment to excellence and applaud this noble step into law enforcement in a country known for strong democratic and civic institutions,” Ojo said.

Ayodeji, alongside his wife Chief Princess Adelaid Ayodeji, is the founder of the Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju Owu Sokori Community Development Foundation, through which they have impacted lives across borders. The foundation was recently onboarded as a partner of the NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel.
Once again, Felix Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to Ayodeji and wished him continued success in his service with An Garda Síochána. “We wish him continued success in his service with An Garda Síochána,” Ojo said.
