APC National Convention Shake-Up: Ben Nwoye, Ginsau, Okafor Lead New National Working Committee
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its 8th National Convention at Eagle Square, Abuja, with a significant leadership reshuffle aimed at reinforcing party unity and strategic alignment ahead of future electoral cycles. Dr. Ben Nwoye emerged as the Deputy National Chairman (South), replacing long-serving Chief Emma Eneukwu, in a consensus-backed decision endorsed by party stakeholders and ratified by delegates.
Other key changes included Ambassador Haruna Ginsau taking over as National Financial Secretary and Barr. Emeka Okafor assuming the role of Deputy National Organising Secretary. Re-elected National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda described his re-election as a call to “greater service, party cohesion, and national progress.” Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru retained his position as National Secretary.

The convention was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the National Assembly, and other top party officials. Party insiders describe the reshuffle as a strategic move to balance regional representation, reward loyalty, and strengthen internal democracy.
Prof. Yilwatda assured members that the new leadership would work tirelessly to sustain APC’s growth and consolidate its position as Nigeria’s governing party.
