PROMINENT NIGERIAN FIGURES PAY LAST RESPECTS TO HAJIYA UMMA EL-RUFAI

Several prominent Nigerian figures have paid their last respects to Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, who passed away on Friday in Cairo, Egypt.

The funeral, held in Abuja on Sunday, attracted a host of dignitaries, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Governor Abdullahi Bago of Niger State, and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

Others in attendance included business magnate Aliko Dangote, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, and former Minister Isa Patanmi. The funeral prayers were conducted in accordance with Islamic rites, after which Hajiya Umma El-Rufai was laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.

Atiku Abubakar, who attended the funeral, expressed his condolences to the bereaved family. “I joined family, friends, and associates in mourning the loss of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, praying for her eternal rest and comfort for the bereaved family,” he said in a social media post.

The turnout of prominent figures is a testament to the respect and esteem in which the El-Rufai family is held in Nigerian society.
