The Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council, Hon. Thompson Osagie, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Council Chairman, late Hon. John Jesuorobo, fondly known as “JJ.”

In a statement released on Sunday, April 12, 2026, the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Dennis Ugbudian, quoted Hon. Osagie as describing the late Hon. Jesuorobo as a distinguished statesman whose legacy in grassroots governance remains indelible. The late Hon. Jesuorobo was the last Chairman of the old Orhionmwon Local Government Area and the pioneer Executive Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, where he demonstrated uncommon leadership, vision, and dedication to public service. His tenure, Hon. Osagie noted, was marked by impactful governance and a commitment to the welfare of the people.

Hon. Osagie further stated that beyond his remarkable public service, the late Hon. Jesuorobo was an astute politician and a revered mentor who nurtured and inspired a generation of emerging leaders who continue to make meaningful contributions to society today. His political sagacity and selfless service earned him respect across party lines, including his role as a former Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State.

Hon. Osagie, on behalf of the government and the good people of Orhionmwon Local Government Area, extended heartfelt condolences to the Jesuorobo family, friends, associates, and all who were touched by his exemplary life. He noted that the passing of Hon. Jesuorobo is not only a loss to his immediate family but to Orhionmwon, Uhunmwode, and Edo State at large, as the nation has lost a committed leader and a guiding light.

“Though he has departed this earthly realm, his legacy of service, leadership, and mentorship will continue to inspire generations yet unborn,” Hon. Osagie stated. Dennis Ugbudian added that the Chairman prayed for Almighty God to grant the soul of the late Hon. Jesuorobo eternal rest and to give his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

The statement signed by Dennis Ugbudian concluded with Hon. Osagie paying a final tribute: “Rest on, great patriot. Your legacy lives on.”
