U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly sent back a proposed Iran peace and nuclear framework with amendments, requesting changes to key provisions before he gives final approval, according to multiple officials familiar with the negotiations.

The revisions are said to tighten U.S. conditions on Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions relief, and maritime access, particularly around the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

According to officials cited in recent reports, Trump reviewed the draft agreement during high-level discussions and returned it with instructions for further strengthening before any final signing.

The updated demands reportedly focus on stricter controls over Iran’s nuclear materials and more enforceable guarantees to prevent future enrichment escalation.

A senior official described the move as part of Trump’s effort to ensure the deal is “more robust and enforceable” before committing to any diplomatic breakthrough.

The changes have triggered another round of back-and-forth talks between U.S. and Iranian negotiators, with intermediaries continuing efforts to bridge gaps on core issues.

While both sides have reportedly made progress on a draft framework, major sticking points remain unresolved, including sanctions relief and long-term nuclear restrictions.

The proposed agreement is understood to cover:

  • Nuclear enrichment limits and verification
  • Access and oversight of Iranian nuclear materials
  • Sanctions relief and frozen assets
  • Security and shipping arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz

Analysts say the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most sensitive elements of the talks due to its role in global oil transport.

Despite speculation about progress, officials stress that no final agreement has been reached and that both sides are still negotiating amendments.

Iranian officials have also previously pushed back against claims of a finalized deal, insisting that discussions remain ongoing.

The amended draft is expected to be reviewed again by negotiators, with timelines for a final agreement still uncertain.

Officials say further meetings could take place within days, depending on how quickly revised terms are accepted by both sides.
