Guests at Transcorp Hilton Abuja were left without electricity in the early hours of Thursday after a power outage hit the hotel at about 2:45 a.m.

The electricity supply was not restored until approximately 45 minutes later, at about 3:30 a.m., leaving guests to endure the disruption during the early-morning hours.

While the cause of the outage was not immediately known, the incident raises fresh questions about service reliability at one of Abuja’s most prominent luxury hotels.

The development comes months after concerns over a water shortage at the hotel, which also affected guests and drew attention to the availability of basic services at the facility.

Although the previous water shortage and Thursday morning’s power outage may have occurred for completely different reasons, the latest incident is likely to renew conversations about the quality and reliability of essential services at the hotel.

For a five-star hospitality facility serving business travellers, diplomats, government officials and other high-profile guests, uninterrupted access to basic amenities such as electricity and water is a fundamental part of the guest experience.

It remains unclear whether Thursday’s outage was linked to the public electricity supply, an internal technical fault or another issue within the hotel’s power infrastructure.

As of the time of this report, there was no immediate explanation from Transcorp Hilton Abuja regarding the cause of the outage or whether steps are being taken to prevent similar disruptions.

The latest incident adds to the growing need for greater transparency around service disruptions at major hospitality establishments, particularly those charging premium rates for accommodation and services.
