Police Launches 24/7 Emergency Hotline for School Safety Reports

The Nigeria Police Force has introduced a 24-hour emergency reporting channel to strengthen the protection of schools and ensure swift response to threats targeting students, teachers and school communities across the country.

The initiative, operated by the Police Schools Protection Squad (SPS) Command and Control Centre at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, provides a dedicated line for reporting school-related emergencies, including attacks on schools, threats to student hostels, bullying, harassment, molestation, kidnapping attempts and suspicious activities around school environments.

The emergency channel can be accessed through calls or WhatsApp via 08077357777, which is available round the clock to receive distress reports and security alerts.

The Police said parents, students, teachers, school administrators, community leaders and members of the public are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious development or potential threat capable of endangering school safety.

The Schools Protection Squad is also accessible through the Police VGS application, providing an additional platform for reporting security concerns.

The Force urged Nigerians to embrace the principle of early warning and community vigilance, stressing that school safety requires collective responsibility.

“School safety is a shared responsibility. Early reporting can help prevent danger and protect children,” the statement noted.

Members of the public have been advised that whenever they observe suspicious activities around schools or on routes used by students, they should report immediately through the SPS emergency line.
