Troops Repel ISWAP Assault in Borno, Inflict Heavy Losses on Terrorists

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully repelled coordinated attacks by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State, killing several insurgents and destroying equipment during a counter-offensive operation.

The military disclosed that the attacks occurred in the early hours of Friday at troops’ positions in Dusten Kura and along Chara Road in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the terrorists launched multiple assaults on the military locations but were swiftly detected by troops through intelligence-led surveillance.

The statement said the troops responded with superior firepower in a coordinated air and ground operation, effectively disrupting the terrorists’ advance and forcing them to retreat.

A major factor in the success of the operation, according to the military, was the timely intervention of the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, which deployed Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets as well as precision-strike platforms of the Nigerian Air Force.

The military noted that no casualties were recorded among its personnel during the encounter, while the terrorists suffered significant losses in both manpower and equipment.

Operation HADIN KAI described the outcome as another demonstration of the combat readiness and operational effectiveness of troops deployed in the North-East theatre.

The Theatre Command also highlighted the growing synergy between ground troops and air assets in sustaining pressure on terrorist groups operating within the region.

It reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing offensive operations aimed at degrading the capabilities of insurgent groups and preventing them from regrouping.

The military further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

Operation HADIN KAI assured citizens that it would sustain aggressive operations across the North-East until lasting peace and security are restored to the region.
