Osun Decides: Adeleke Casts Vote in Ede, Urges Voters to Protect Their Ballots

Osun State Governor and Accord governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election at his polling unit in Ede North Local Government Area.

Adeleke arrived at Ward 002, Unit 009, Sagba Abogunde, Ede North, at about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and joined other registered voters to participate in the election. Reports said he completed accreditation before casting his ballot.

Speaking shortly after voting, the governor expressed confidence in his chances of retaining the seat and urged voters across the state to participate peacefully and protect their votes throughout the electoral process.

Adeleke also raised concerns about the conduct of the election, alleging that there were attempts to disrupt the process. He called on the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to ensure that security personnel remained professional and impartial.

The governor’s voting comes as voters across Osun head to polling units to choose their governor in the closely watched election.

The exercise has recorded significant voter turnout in several locations, although there have also been reports of delays and isolated disruptions at some polling units.

Authorities and election observers are expected to closely monitor the process as voting continues, with attention turning to the eventual counting, collation and announcement of results.

Adeleke’s participation at his hometown polling unit adds significance to the election, as he seeks another term against other contenders, including APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam.
