FG Releases 2026/2027 Admission List for Federal Unity Colleges

The Federal Government has released the 2026/2027 admission list for candidates offered admission into Junior Secondary School One (JSS1) of Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria.

The Federal Ministry of Education announced the release on Monday, urging parents and guardians to check the admission status of their children and wards and print their admission slips.

The admissions follow the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), which serves as the entry examination for JSS1 admission into the Federal Unity Colleges.

A total of 60,357 candidates registered for the 2026 NCEE, while 56,950 candidates sat for the examination across Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory and designated centres in Benin Republic and Togo.

According to the government, 10 candidates emerged as the highest scorers with 202 marks out of a possible 210, while 82 candidates recorded the lowest score of one mark.

The Ministry said placement into the Federal Unity Colleges was conducted based on three approved criteria: 60 per cent merit, 30 per cent equality of states and 10 per cent exigency.

Successful candidates are required to print their admission slips and report to the Federal Unity College indicated on their slips for confirmation and completion of the admission process.

Parents and candidates can check placement through the Federal Ministry of Education’s FME Posting Portal.

The latest admission exercise is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to automate the placement process in Federal Unity Colleges.

The Education Ministry announced in 2025 that admission into the colleges had been fully automated, with placements carried out within the approved capacity of each institution.

The reform was designed to improve transparency and efficiency in the admission process, strengthen capacity management and address overcrowding in the colleges.

Federal Unity Colleges operated by the ministry include Federal Government Colleges, Federal Government Girls’ Colleges, Federal Science Colleges and Federal Science and Technical Colleges across the country.

The ministry advised parents and guardians to check the admission status of their wards promptly and ensure that successful candidates meet all reporting and documentation requirements.

The Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to approach their secondary education with discipline, diligence and commitment to academic excellence.
