The wife of embattled Delta State content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, has denied allegations that her husband raped 20-year-old Favour Agbro, insisting that he only had an affair with the deceased.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, spoke in a video posted on Ogbonna’s social media page on Wednesday, saying she remained firmly behind her husband despite the allegations against him.

The Delta State Police Command had arrested the 40-year-old content creator over the alleged rape of Favour, who subsequently died after reportedly ingesting a toxic substance.

Police authorities said Ogbonna allegedly invited Favour to Asaba under the pretext of teaching her content creation before taking her to a hotel, where he allegedly raped and physically assaulted her.

However, Ogbonna’s wife rejected the rape allegation, saying she knew her husband and would continue to stand by him.

“Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. I know my husband. Odogwu Asaba did not rape Favour. Odogwu Asaba only had an affair with the girl,” she said.

She added that her husband had never raped anyone, arguing that his rise to prominence had not changed his character.

“He cannot rape, he has never. Even when he did not have fame, he did not rape anybody, is it now?” she said.

The woman said she had been following developments surrounding the case and deliberately refrained from speaking publicly until she had gathered more information.

She also appealed to members of the public not to rely solely on social media narratives in determining the facts of the case.

“Social media is not a courtroom. You people should bear that in mind,” she said.

According to her, some aspects of the incident had been presented differently from what she had learned.

She acknowledged the death of Favour and said the circumstances surrounding it informed her cautious approach to the matter.

“Yes, someone has died and that is why we are taking it easy. But Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody,” she said.

The content creator’s wife said her husband would have the opportunity to give his own account of the incident when he returns.

She disclosed that she had been married to Ogbonna for eight years and that they have four children together.

The police investigation into the allegations is ongoing.
