Two Weeks After Wedding, Air Force Co-Pilot Dies In Ondo Plane Crash
Squadron Leader Ahamefule Man-Ugwueje, the Nigerian Air Force co-pilot aboard the ATR-42-500MP aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, has been identified as one of the victims of the Monday accident.
The officer reportedly got married to Flight Lieutenant Damilola Adekunle on September 20, just two weeks before the aircraft went down.
The wedding was held in Abuja and was attended by family members, friends and colleagues of the couple.
Ahamefule, a Squadron Leader in the Nigerian Air Force, held a rank equivalent to Major in the Nigerian Army.
The crash involved the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42-500MP aircraft with registration number NAF 931. The aircraft reportedly went down in Igbokoda, Ondo State, on Monday.
The Nigerian Air Force has acknowledged the incident and released the names of the 32 passengers aboard the aircraft.
As of the latest update, no bodies had been recovered from the crash site, while search and rescue efforts were ongoing.
Ahamefule is survived by his newlywed wife, parents and other family members.
