It was an emotionally charged scene on Thursday when Johnson Letsuwa stepped out of the graduation hall and met his father, Mr. Peter Letsuwa, the National Publicity Secretary of the National Rescue Movement, at the Celebration Arena.

The moment was laden with emotion as the young graduate burst into tears while hugging his father. Well-wishers, onlookers and vendors at the scene could not help but shed a few tears as well.

Johnson, who graduated with a Second Class Upper in Architecture at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, was full of appreciation for the parental support he received during his studies. He expressed gratitude to God first and then to his parents.

“It was not an easy journey, but I am overjoyed that it ended well and commendably,” Johnson said. “I thank God first, and I thank my parents for standing by me throughout. Their support kept me going.”

The proud father, who is the NRM National Publicity Secretary, said it was tough too, but he appreciated the Redeemer’s University authorities who, he said, allowed flexible payments in three installments.

“It was not easy for us as a family, but the university gave us the grace to pay in three installments, and that made a huge difference,” Peter Letsuwa said. “I am proud of what my son has achieved today.”

Johnson said he was looking forward to Youth service and then the job market, where he hopes to contribute his quota to help develop the nation and himself.

“I am looking forward to my youth service and then the job market, where I hope to contribute my quota to developing the nation and also developing myself,” he said.

Peter Letsuwa said he would love to see the young man return to the school for his master’s degree and a career where he would work with the school before moving on.

“I want him to come back for his master’s and work with the school for a while before moving on. That would make me very happy,” he said.
