Pakistan’s security forces foiled an infiltration attempt from Afghanistan in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing 12 terrorists and Afghan Taliban personnel.

Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations said a group of terrorists was spotted trying to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan along the international border in Kurram district on Saturday, and security forces engaged them effectively.

Afghan Taliban posts opened fire to support the infiltrators, triggering an exchange of fire. In the intense exchange, Naib Subedar Hidayat Aman was martyred.

Pakistan’s military accused the Afghan Taliban regime of failing to fulfill its international counterterrorism obligations, saying the incident “once again proves Pakistan’s objective and factual position that the Afghan Taliban regime is deliberately and gravely failing, refusing to prevent terrorist groups from using Afghan territory, and instead facilitating and abetting cross-border terrorism.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for successfully thwarting the infiltration attempt and expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of Hidayat Aman. He said, “Pakistan is fully capable of defending its borders and completely eradicating terrorism. There will be no compromise on Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.”
