ASABA SPECIALIST HOSPITAL ACHIEVES MILESTONE WITH FIRST DIALYSIS SESSION

Asaba Specialist Hospital in Delta State has successfully conducted its first dialysis session, marking a significant milestone in its development as a tertiary healthcare facility. The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Peace Ighosewe, attributed this achievement to the support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which provided state-of-the-art dialysis machines.

The hospital can now offer advanced dialysis treatments, including SLED and Hemodiafiltration, to both regular and ICU patients. Dr. Ighosewe expressed gratitude to the governor, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, and the hospital’s team for their contributions to this achievement.

Asaba Specialist Hospital was commissioned on June 15, 2021, and has since become a major referral center for hospitals across Delta North Senatorial District. The hospital boasts 11 wards, five theaters, and an oxygen plant that produces 60 large cylinders of oxygen daily. With over 800 staff working full-time, the hospital operates at full capacity, providing affordable healthcare services to the people of Delta State.

The hospital’s MORE Agenda-supported dialysis unit is a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery in the state. Dr. Ighosewe’s leadership and the team’s dedication have made this milestone possible, and the hospital continues to strive for excellence in patient care.
