Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season for the 2025/2026 campaign after a sensational individual performance that powered United back into the Champions League places.

The Portuguese midfielder was the standout performer across the league, directly contributing to 28 goals this season with eight goals and a joint-record 20 assists. His creative output saw him equal the Premier League’s single-season assist record, matching legends Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

Fernandes’ influence proved crucial in Manchester United’s strong finish to the season, guiding the club to a third-place finish after a campaign of resurgence under the current coaching setup. He also led the league in chances created, further underlining his dominance as the division’s most productive playmaker.

The award adds to an already decorated season for the 31-year-old, who recently also claimed the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Men’s Player of the Year award. His performances have been widely praised as among the most influential in European football this season.

With one match still remaining in the campaign, Fernandes also has the opportunity to break the Premier League’s all-time assist record outright.
