A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the All Progressives Congress (APC) to submit the name of former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu also ordered the incumbent Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to stop parading himself as the APC’s senatorial candidate for the district ahead of the January 16, 2027 election.

The judge issued the orders in a judgment in which he held that Uzodinma did not win the APC senatorial primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the court, evidence presented during the proceedings established that Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast at the primary election.

Justice Egwuatu consequently directed the APC to forward Okorocha’s name to INEC as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the forthcoming general elections.

The ruling marks a significant development in the contest for the APC’s senatorial ticket in Imo West, although any subsequent appeal or further court proceedings could affect the final outcome.
