CSO ACCUSES NAJAATU OF POLITICAL MISCHIEF OVER CRITICISM OF NSA RIBADU

Arewa Progressives (AP), a Civil Society Organisation, has cautioned Najaatu Muhammad, a former Police Service Commission (PSC) commissioner, over her criticism of National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu. In a statement, AP’s National President, Ibrahim T. Lawal, accused Najaatu of seeking political relevance through controversial and unfounded allegations.

“For over two decades, Najaatu Muhammad has cultivated a reputation for self-righteousness and perpetual controversy in Nigeria’s political landscape,” the statement read. “While she presents herself as an activist, her record in public service has been marked by conflicts and discord.”
AP alleged that Najaatu’s criticisms of Ribadu stem from personal vendettas rather than genuine concerns about governance and security. The group recalled her past dismissal from the PSC, attributing it to her open alignment with opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar, while still holding a supposedly impartial role in law enforcement oversight.

The controversy escalated after Najaatu accused Ribadu of double standards and deploying attack dogs against her. However, AP dismissed these claims, stating that the NSA remains focused on national security and anti-corruption efforts. “Ribadu is a respected northern leader with an impeccable record. He is a role model, a patriot, and a pan-nationalist whose integrity cannot be questioned,” Lawal added.
AP urged Najaatu to refrain from character assassination and political grandstanding, advising her to engage in constructive discourse rather than stirring unnecessary controversies.
