DANGOTE REFINERY COMMITS TO SUPPLY 1.5 BILLION LITRES OF PMS MONTHLY
Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals FZE has committed to supplying 1.5 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) per month to meet Nigerian domestic fuel requirements. In a letter dated 30th November 2025 addressed to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, the refinery declared its readiness to supply 50 million litres daily in December and January, with plans to increase to 57 million litres daily from February 2026 onwards.

In a statement, Chief Executive Officer David Bird confirmed the commitment and sought the authority’s support. The refinery requested that NMDPRA officials be hosted onsite from 1st December to validate and publish daily supply volumes. “We are willing to publish our daily production and stock volumes online and in print media in the spirit of full transparency to the public,” Bird said. The letter also appealed for NMDPRA’s full support to allow Dangote refinery to import crude, feedstocks, and blending components unhindered and to support the lifting of products by vessel. Bird highlighted ongoing challenges, stating, “We continue to experience delays in vessel clearance which impacts not only the refinery operations but also our customers, adding unnecessary costs and inefficiencies.”
Emphasizing the importance of domestic fuel security, David Bird urged the authority to allow the ‘Nigeria First’ policy to work for the benefit of all Nigerians. “We will appreciate your usual consideration and support to secure Nigeria’s domestic fuel security and abundance,” he added. The letter, sent from the refinery’s headquarters on Lekki Coastal Road in Lagos State, underscores the refinery’s capacity to meet supply targets. David Bird called for regulatory cooperation to ensure smooth operations and to enhance Nigeria’s fuel stability.
