DEFENCE MINISTER URGES NACCIMA MEMBERS TO INVEST IN NIGERIA’S DEFENCE INDUSTRIES

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has encouraged members of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) to explore and invest in Nigeria’s defence industries. He made this call at the 65th Annual General Meeting/Conference and Investiture Ceremony of the 23rd National President of NACCIMA, held in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Abubakar emphasized the vital role of the private sector in enhancing national defence capacity through local production, innovation, and strategic partnerships. He underscored the major reforms underway in the sector under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh, who represented the President, and the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Kayode Alabi, who represented the Executive Governor of the State.

The Defence Minister’s call for investment in the defence sector highlights the government’s efforts to boost local production and innovation in the industry. By partnering with the private sector, the government aims to enhance national defence capacity and reduce reliance on foreign imports.
The event provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss key issues affecting the industry and explore opportunities for growth and development. With the government’s commitment to reforming the defence sector, investors are likely to find new opportunities in the industry.
