Gurpreet Gogi, a member of the Legislative Assembly from India’s Aam Admi Party, has died after accidentally shooting himself in the head. According to his family, the incident occurred around midnight, and Gogi was rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaskaran Singh Teja confirmed the death, stating that it appeared to be accidental. “As per the family members, he shot himself accidentally and sustained bullet injuries to his head. Gurpreet Gogi was declared dead at the hospital, his body has been kept at the mortuary in the DMC hospital,” Teja said.

The exact cause of death will be determined once the post-mortem report is available. “Cause of the death will be clear once the post-mortem reports come,” Teja noted. Further investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Gogi joined the Aam Admi Party in 2022 and had made headlines after defeating two-time Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu during the Ludhiana assembly elections. Several political leaders have expressed shock over Gogi’s death, with Punjab AAP president Aman Arora offering condolences to the grieving family.
