The Jerry Eze Foundation has come under public attention following viral claims that it disbursed $720,000 (over ₦1 billion) to 240 beneficiaries under its business grant programme.

The claim, which circulated widely on social media, also stated that global consulting firm KPMG handled the selection process.

While the foundation has indeed launched a large-scale empowerment initiative targeted at Nigerian entrepreneurs, available reports indicate that earlier confirmed figures differ from the viral claims.

In previous announcements, the foundation revealed grant packages ranging from $300,000 to $525,000, aimed at supporting about 100 young entrepreneurs across key sectors such as agriculture, technology, and manufacturing. Each beneficiary was expected to receive approximately $3,000 to either start or scale their businesses.

The involvement of KPMG in overseeing the selection process has been confirmed, with the firm tasked with ensuring transparency and accountability in the programme.

However, as of the time of filing this report, there is no verified confirmation from credible sources that $720,000 has been disbursed to 240 beneficiaries.

The foundation is yet to officially announce the final figures or confirm the completion of disbursement at that scale.

The development highlights the growing influence of faith-based philanthropic initiatives in Nigeria, while also underscoring the need for caution amid viral claims on social media.
