LIVERPOOL ON BRINK OF PREMIER LEAGUE GLORY

Liverpool are tantalizingly close to being crowned Premier League champions for the second time in their history, and it could happen as early as Sunday. A draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday would guarantee the Reds’ 20th top-flight success.

With a draw, Liverpool would move to 80 points with four matches remaining, rendering Arsenal’s challenge impossible. Arsenal, on 67 points, has a maximum of 12 points to play for, meaning they can only reach a maximum tally of 79 points.

History is on Liverpool’s side, as they are unbeaten in their last 15 home matches against Spurs in all competitions, winning 11 of those. They have won the last three matches, scoring four goals each time. In the Premier League, Spurs have won just two of their last 24 meetings with Liverpool, and they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the last 18 meetings.

If Liverpool lose to Spurs, they would need to wait until the next weekend for the title to be confirmed. In that scenario, Arsenal would need to beat AFC Bournemouth on Saturday to delay the celebrations on Merseyside. If they do, Liverpool would only need to draw away to Chelsea for the title to be theirs.
