Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has predicted a wave of massive defections from opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South zone ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Fred Itua, in a statement, quoted Governor Okpebholo as saying the defections would be a result of the APC’s growing popularity. “Today, I am happy and proud to say that I am a son to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Okpebholo said. Fred Itua confirmed that Okpebholo expressed his commitment to developing Edo State.

Okpebholo expressed gratitude to the people of Edo State for their support and prayers, assuring them that his administration would bring progress and development to the state. Fred Itua noted that Okpebholo said, “The people of Edo State will not regret voting me as their Governor.” Okpebholo also inspected Chief Lee Ikpea’s Medical Center, where he was taken on a tour of the facility.
