NUJ CELEBRATES 70 YEARS OF CHAMPIONING PRESS FREEDOM AND JOURNALISTIC EXCELLENCE

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is celebrating its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of promoting press freedom, defending journalists’ rights, and upholding ethical standards in the industry.

In a statement, NUJ President Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi expressed his gratitude and admiration for the hard work and dedication of journalists. “Your commitment to speaking truth to power, holding those in authority accountable, and giving voice to the voiceless is truly admirable and inspiring,” he said.

Abdullahi emphasized the importance of upholding the values of journalism and striving for a more just and democratic society. “Together, we can continue to strive for a more just and democratic society, where the press remains free and independent,” he added

The NUJ president congratulated all members on reaching this significant milestone, saying, “Here’s to the next 70 years of excellence in journalism!”
