ONDO AMOTEKUN FORCES CAPTURE 39 FLEEING NORTH AFTER US AIRSTRIKE
Security operatives in Ondo State have taken into custody 39 individuals suspected of being terrorists, following their escape from Sokoto State in the wake of recent U.S. military airstrikes. The commander of the state’s Amotekun corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, presented these suspects among a larger group of 100 alleged criminals detained in various operations.

According to Adeleye, the group entered Ondo State seeking refuge. “We apprehended 39 suspects who indicated they were moving into the state due to increased pressure from security forces in the north,” he stated. “They have since taken refuge in our forests.”
All suspects are now undergoing a detailed profiling process. Adeleye confirmed that anyone found with evidence of criminal activity will be prosecuted. He also emphasized that residing within the state’s forest reserves requires official permission, a rule the government is strictly enforcing.
The security outfit attributes these arrests to strengthened interstate border surveillance, which has led to further apprehensions still under investigation.
The broader group of 100 faced various allegations. Authorities cited 61 suspects for general criminal acts, two for violations of open grazing laws, six for kidnapping, and three for sexual assault. Those detained are between the ages of 18 and 45.
In a specific case, three men were arrested in Akure’s Isinkan area over sexual violence claims. They were identified as 19-year-old Daniel Ojo, 33-year-old Usman, and 41-year-old Bejide.
Commander Adeleye extended his appreciation to State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his support of security initiatives. He also acknowledged the cooperation of other security agencies and the public.
