POLICE NEUTRALIZE THREE SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS IN DELTA STATE

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the neutralization of three suspected kidnappers in a gun duel with operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) along the Ughelli-Patani Road. The incident occurred when the police flagged down a shuttle bus carrying the suspects at Ewhereni Junction, prompting the occupants to open fire in an attempt to escape.

A gunfire duel ensued, resulting in three suspects being seriously injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital for treatment, they later died. The police recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with 18 live rounds from the suspects.
According to the Delta Police Command spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, the operatives were on a covert patrol when they stopped the bus, and the suspects engaged them in a gunfight. Edafe praised the CP-SAT team for their professionalism and dedication to duty, stating that their efforts demonstrate the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and enhancing safety and security in Delta State.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the operatives for their exemplary work and assured the public of continued vigilance, urging citizens to report suspicious activities through police control numbers. The police investigation is ongoing.
