PRESIDENT TINUBU TO ATTEND G20 SUMMIT IN SOUTH AFRICA, AU-EU SUMMIT IN ANGOLA

President Bola Tinubu will embark on a two-nation visit to South Africa and Angola this week to participate in major international summits focused on global economic cooperation and regional development. Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy) Bayo Onanuga said in a statement that President Tinubu will depart Abuja on Wednesday for Johannesburg, South Africa, to attend the 20th summit of the G20 Leaders, followed by the AU-EU summit in Luanda, Angola.

Onanuga stated that President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, who serves as the current President of the G20 group, invited President Tinubu to the summit, which is scheduled for November 22nd to 23rd at the Johannesburg Expo Centre. The theme for the two-day event is ‘Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,’ and it will feature three plenary sessions covering topics such as inclusive and sustainable growth, trade, financing for development, debt burden, disaster risk reduction, climate change, just energy transitions, food systems, critical minerals, decent work, and artificial intelligence. President Tinubu is also expected to hold bilateral meetings to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda and discuss peace, security, and development issues.

Onanuga added that after the G20 Summit, President Tinubu will join other African Union and European Union leaders in Luanda for the 7th AU-EU meeting from November 24th to 25th. This gathering will bring together young leaders, innovators, and civil society organizations to address shared challenges, including climate change, inclusive development, infrastructure, the digital economy, the creative industry, manufacturing, and agribusiness. The President will be accompanied by top officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake, Minister of Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed. President Tinubu will return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the two meetings.
