SENATE URGES NWDC, SEDC NOMINEES NOT TO BETRAY PRESIDENT TINUBU’S TRUST
The Senate has urged nominees for the Governing Boards of the North West Development Commission and the South East Development Commission not to betray the trust entrusted in them by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerians. The lawmakers gave the charge during the Ad-Hoc Committee screening on regional development commissions chaired by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
The nominees for the North West Development Commission, led by Alhaji Lawal Samai’la Abdullahi as Chairman and Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, were the first to undergo screening. Senator Babangida Hussaini reminded the nominees of the trust entrusted in them by the President and Nigerians, urging them not to let the President down. The Senate also screened the 18-member nominees of the South-East Development Commission, led by Dr. Emeka Nworgu as Chairman and Hon. Mark C Okoye as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
In his introduction, Professor Abdullahi Ma’aji described himself as a human development specialist and gave an account of his accomplishments in public office positions he held. The nominees were reminded of the importance of their roles in driving development in their respective regions.
