TRAGEDY STRIKES NIGERIAN GOSPEL MUSIC INDUSTRY AS FOUR SINGERS DIE IN OGUN AUTO CRASH

Four popular Nigerian gospel singers from the same family, Evangelist Ayodeji Kekerejesu, Evangelist Iyanu Joseph, Monjolajesu Oluwapamilerin, and Opeyemi Adesina, have tragically lost their lives in a fatal car accident along the Ikorodu/Sagamu road in Ogun State. The accident occurred when a vehicle crashed into two vehicles that collided, with the gospel singers being in one of the vehicles. Ogun State Commander and Public Information Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okupe, explained that the singers died instantly on the spot. “The accident occurred after a vehicle crashed into two vehicles that collided,” she said, urging drivers to avoid overspeeding. Their deaths have created sadness in the Nigerian gospel music industry, with many mourning the loss of these talented artists cut short in their prime. This tragic incident comes after other notable Nigerian gospel singers have faced similar fates, including Sammie Okposo, who died in 2022 after being involved in a car accident earlier that year.

SIX DEAD, FOUR INJURED IN LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY CRASH

A devastating accident has occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, claiming the lives of six people and injuring four others. The accident happened at around 7:00 am in front of NIPCO Gas Station, opposite Prayer City, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry headquarters. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash involved three vehicles, including two tankers and a commercial transport bus. A total of 15 people were involved in the incident, with 13 males and 2 females. The FRSC’s RS2HQ Special Intervention Patrol team responded quickly to the scene, evacuating the injured victims to nearby hospitals and depositing the corpses of the deceased at Idera Hospital Morgue in Sagamu, Ogun State. The probable causes of the accident have been identified as speed violation and loss of concentration. The FRSC has urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and maintain proper vehicle condition to avoid road tragedies. “We deeply regret the loss of lives and urge motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and maintain proper vehicle condition to avoid road tragedies,” said Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, FRSC Lagos Sector Commander.

TRUCK CRASHES INTO RESIDENTIAL COMPOUND, KILLS 9 FAMILY MEMBERS IN BENUE

A tragic incident occurred in Okete Village, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, when a truck ran into a residential compound, killing nine members of a family. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Sewuese Anene, confirmed the incident on Thursday in Makurdi. According to Anene, the unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday. “The command has launched a full investigation into the incident, and further information will be made available to newsmen,” Anene stated. The Benue Command of the Nigerian Police Force has assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the crash and prevent similar incidents in the future.

INDIAN LAWMAKER GURPREET GOGI ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTS SELF DEAD

Gurpreet Gogi, a member of the Legislative Assembly from India’s Aam Admi Party, has died after accidentally shooting himself in the head. According to his family, the incident occurred around midnight, and Gogi was rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaskaran Singh Teja confirmed the death, stating that it appeared to be accidental. “As per the family members, he shot himself accidentally and sustained bullet injuries to his head. Gurpreet Gogi was declared dead at the hospital, his body has been kept at the mortuary in the DMC hospital,” Teja said. The exact cause of death will be determined once the post-mortem report is available. “Cause of the death will be clear once the post-mortem reports come,” Teja noted. Further investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Gogi joined the Aam Admi Party in 2022 and had made headlines after defeating two-time Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu during the Ludhiana assembly elections. Several political leaders have expressed shock over Gogi’s death, with Punjab AAP president Aman Arora offering condolences to the grieving family.
