ABUJA PARENTS, YOUTHS PROTEST AT FCT MINISTER’S GATE OVER OUT-OF-SCHOOL CHILDREN
A group of Abuja Grassroots Ambassadors youths, led by Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, will stage a protest at the FCT Minister’s gate on Tuesday to draw attention to the plight of out-of-school children and their families affected by the ongoing LEA strike. The protesters aim to highlight the growing concerns about the strike’s effects on education and the community. Abuja Chief Advocate, Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, in a statement, said the protesters demand immediate action from authorities to address striking workers’ concerns and ensure students can return to school without further disruption. “We call on the FCT Minister and relevant authorities to listen to their concerns and work towards a resolution. With dialogue and commitment, we believe the strike can be brought to an end, and students can return to school,” Yunusa said. The protesters are determined to make their voices heard and push for a resolution to the strike. Yunusa added that every child deserves access to quality education, and it’s time for authorities to take concrete steps to resolve the strike. “By working together, we hope to find a solution that will allow students to return to school and resume their academic journey without further disruption,” he said. Some children have resorted to working as bus conductors, apprentices in mechanics and electrical shops, or street vendors, highlighting the dire consequences of prolonged strike action. The protesters hope their demonstration will be a catalyst for change and a return to normalcy in the education sector. Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf urged all affected parents and youths to join the demonstration on Tuesday, believing a collective voice will prompt authorities to take action.
