POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION APPOINTS NEW COMMISSIONER OF POLICE FOR EDO STATE

The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of Monday Agbonika as the new Commissioner of Police for Edo State. He takes over from CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin. Agbonika was at the Police Service Commission for a posting interview, which was presided over by Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu. The Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, stated that the leadership of the Commission charged the new Commissioner to be proactive and to settle down quickly to reduce the crime rate in the state. Ani noted that Agbonika was also advised to look into the issues surrounding the recent killings in the state and to work towards preventing reprisals. Ikechukwu Ani stated that the Commission reminded Agbonika that his success in the state would depend on how he handles the arrested suspects from the recent killings. The Commission also advised him to “sit up and also work to win the confidence of the people, consult relevant stakeholders and always document every incident and action taken.” Ani noted that Agbonika promised the Commission that he would stand by relevant laws in the discharge of his duties and would always depend on the Inspector General of Police for necessary guidance. Ikechukwu Ani stated that Agbonika is a seasoned Police Officer with 32 years of experience, covering operations, investigation, administration, police public information, and area/divisional police management. Agbonika was until his posting, Commissioner of Police, Mounted Troop, Force Equitation Officer, Force Headquarters. Ikechukwu Ani stated that he has held various positions, including Commissioner of Police Communications (Operations), Deputy Commissioner Interpol, and Area Commander in several states.

IGP REDEPLOYS CP JIMOH MOSHOOD AS LAGOS STATE POLICE COMMISSIONER

In a strategic move to bolster internal security and enhance operational effectiveness, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Ph.D., NPM., has redeployed CP Jimoh Moshood as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said CP Jimoh Moshood previously served in key positions including CP Communications Ops, Force Headquarters, Force Public Relations Officer, and CP Eastern Port, Rivers State before now. Adejobi stated that his extensive background in communications, administration and public relations, combined with his operational expertise, uniquely qualifies him to head the Lagos State Police Command. CP Moshood’s appointment is expected to strengthen coordination among units, enhance community engagement, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in Lagos State. Olumuyiwa Adejobi quoted the Inspector-General of Police as charging CP Jimoh Moshood to uphold the rule of law and maintain operational excellence as he assumes his new role and to lead with unwavering integrity, enforce discipline, and implement proactive strategies to safeguard lives and property. Adejobi emphasized that CP Moshood’s wealth of experience makes him well-suited for the Lagos State role, and his appointment is expected to strengthen security operations, enhance community engagement, and uphold professional standards in Lagos.

PSC APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF MOSHOOD JIMOH AS COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, LAGOS STATE COMMAND

The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command. CP Jimoh, who hails from Kwara State, has had a distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force, serving as former Force Public Relations Officer and later Deputy Commissioner, Airport Police; Deputy Commissioner, Finance and Administration and Deputy Commissioner General Investigation. In a statement, the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said CP Jimoh appeared before the Commission, which was chaired by DIG Hashimu Argungu, a retired DIG and mni. Ani stated that other members present at the meeting included Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court and Honourable Commissioner representing the Judiciary, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Honourable Commissioner representing the Police. CP Jimoh brings a wealth of experience and professional training to his new role, having undergone courses in Combat Operations, Mobile Training College Maiduguri; African Union Mission in Darfur Sudan; and Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure Training Institute, United States, among others. He is also a recipient of the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development and use of Public Relations by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations. Ikechukwu Ani noted that CP Jimoh’s appointment is a testament to his exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to service. Ani stated that the Commission is confident that CP Jimoh will bring his expertise and experience to bear in his new role, and wished him success in his new assignment.
