EDO STATE GOVERNMENT DECLARES WAR ON CULTISM, THREATENS LEGAL ACTION AGAINST BLACK AXE GROUP

The Edo State Government has vowed to take decisive action against the Neo Black Movement, also known as Black Axe, over recent cult-related violence and killings in the state. In a statement, Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Fred Itua, said the government has commenced necessary legal consultations to prosecute the group. This decision follows public admission by self-acclaimed leaders of the group, who have openly identified themselves and condemned the lawful demolition of a building linked to their activities. The demolished building was reportedly a hub for planning and executing violent attacks across Benin metropolis and other parts of Edo State. The Edo State Government has demanded that the Black Axe group provide full disclosure on claims of renovating six public schools in the state since Senator Monday Okpebholo assumed office. “The group must, without delay, publicly list the names and locations of the schools allegedly renovated, provide documented proof of the said renovations, and present the official letter of approval or partnership granted by the Edo State Government authorizing such actions,” Fred Itua said. Failure to comply will result in immediate legal action for defamation, misrepresentation, and unauthorized interference in public infrastructure. Furthermore, the State Government will soon commence development of a divisional police station on the parcel of land where the demolished cult-linked structure once stood. “This permanent security presence will serve as a deterrent and protect law-abiding citizens and residents in the area,” Itua added. The Okpebholo-led administration remains committed to sanitizing Edo State of all forms of cultism. “As the Chief Security Officer of the state, Governor Okpebholo will not sit back and watch innocent citizens killed by criminal gangs hiding under the guise of cult groups,” Fred Itua emphasized. “Let it be made unequivocally clear: Edo State is not, and will never be, a safe haven for cultists.” More demolitions of buildings and properties linked to cultists are expected in the coming days. The anti-cultism law remains in full effect, and the Okpebholo administration will stop at nothing to rid Edo State of those who threaten peace, security, and human life.

EDO DEPUTY GOVERNOR DENIES CULTISM ALLEGATIONS, VOWS TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION

Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has broken his silence over allegations linking him to a secret cult, denying belonging to any cult group. In a statement issued on Friday, Idahosa reacted to a video circulating on social media in which one Emmanuel Agbogun alleged that he and other prominent individuals in the state were members of secret cult groups. “I categorically state that these accusations are spurious, defamatory, malicious, unfounded, and grossly misleading,” Idahosa said. “They are a deliberate attempt to tarnish my hard-earned reputation and to undermine my unwavering dedication to public service.” The deputy governor stressed that he has never been involved in any cult-related activities, reiterating his commitment to public service, transparency, and integrity. “The claim that I am affiliated with any secret cult group is entirely false and baseless. I vehemently deny any involvement, both past or present, in cult-related activities.” Idahosa warned that he would pursue legal redress against what he described as a slanderous attack. “Let me again reiterate that I consider this publication not only slanderous but also a direct attack on my character. I will not treat it lightly and will pursue all legal avenues to ensure that such defamation is addressed within the full extent of the law.” The deputy governor also reaffirmed his Christian faith and encouraged citizens to join the fight against cultism. “For the avoidance of doubt, I am not, and have never been, a member of any secret cult. I am a Christian and a steadfast believer in the teachings of Jesus Christ. I urge all well-meaning citizens of Edo State to remain vigilant and continue supporting our collective efforts to eradicate cultism and uphold the values of peace, justice, and development.”
