TROOPS FOIL TERRORIST INFILTRATION ATTEMPT, DECIMATE INSURGENTS IN BITTA ENGAGEMENT

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have decimated terrorists from the Mandara Mountains during a foiled infiltration attempt into Bitta. The Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, confirmed the development in a statement. Uba detailed that at about 0030 hours on 18 December 2025, troops supported by advanced surveillance systems detected terrorist movement. He stated that exercising tactical restraint, the troops allowed the terrorists into effective range before unleashing coordinated defensive fires. “The engagement resulted in the neutralisation of several insurgents, including a top key terrorist fighter and his cameraman,” Uba said in a statement. As survivors attempted to withdraw, the Air Component of OPHK conducted follow-on precision strikes, further decimating the retreating elements and disrupting their escape routes. Exploitation of the area led to significant recoveries including a camcorder, AK-47 rifles, PKT machine guns, bandoliers, handheld radios, 11 AK-47 magazines with rounds, 7 mobile phones, several belts of ammunition, motorcycles, and bicycles. Sani Uba noted that further exploitation revealed multiple blood trails and shallow graves, indicative of additional terrorist casualties. “The troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain high as operations continue to deny terrorists freedom of action,” Uba stated. He reaffirmed that troops of OPHK remain resolute in their commitment to decisively defeat all terrorist elements and restore lasting peace and stability across the North East region.
