DELTA COMMUNITY YOUTHS SET ABLAZE HOTEL OVER MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF LODGER

Youths in Owheologbo, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, have set fire to Century Home Hotel following the mysterious death of a lodger, Mr. Sunday Ogofotha. Ogofotha, who had traveled from Lagos to attend a relative’s funeral, was found dead, prompting the arrest of four hotel staff and the interrogation of the hotel owner, Chief Joshua Oghoole. A community source claimed the youths’ actions may have been triggered by the police clearing the hotel owner of any wrongdoing. “The owner of the hotel is innocent; they are just punishing him. He was not involved,” the source said. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the hotel was set ablaze by a mob, adding that another hotel belonging to the same owner had also been targeted. Isoko North Local Government Area Chairman, Elder Godwin Ogorugba, had earlier sealed the hotel, warning that individuals using their structures for illegal activities would face the law. “Moving forward, we will take decisive action against any property owners who aid criminal activities in our communities,” Ogorugba said. The remains of the deceased have been deposited at a morgue in Ozoro.
