JANDOR DUMPS PDP, CITING INDISCIPLINE AND ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES

Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as JANDOR, the 2023 Lagos governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced his departure from the party. JANDOR made this announcement on Monday during a press conference in Ikeja, Lagos, citing indiscipline and anti-party activities as the reasons for his exit. According to JANDOR, the leadership of the PDP, both at the national and state levels, has failed to uphold the principles of democracy, good governance, and the pursuit of a better Lagos. He stated that the persistent anti-party activities, internal sabotage, and lack of discipline within the party led to his decision to leave. JANDOR accused some PDP leaders, including former Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George, of working against the party’s interests in the 2023 elections. He claimed that George’s actions were part of his usual practice of attacking the PDP candidate and destabilizing the party, thereby paving the way for the APC to remain in power. “I am here before you today with a heavy heart but a clear conscience. We have dedicated ourselves to the ideals of democracy, good governance, and a pursuit of a better Lagos,” JANDOR said. “However, it has been found evident that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party… has failed to uphold these principles.” JANDOR’s departure from the PDP has the backing of his supporters across the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State. Although he did not disclose his next political move, JANDOR assured that he would make his intentions known in the coming months.
