PRESIDENT TINUBU SETS ASIDE FRESH NTA APPOINTMENTS; RECALLS RETIRED DG, ED NEWS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the recall of Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who briefly vacated the post following some management changes in the agency. Dembos was appointed DG of the TV network by President Tinubu in October 2023 and will now return to complete his three-year tenure. In a statement signed by Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, the President similarly directed the recall of Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, the Executive Director of News, to complete his three-year tenure, which ends in 2027. Bayo Onanuga said the new directive effectively reversed the previously announced appointments of a director-general, executive director of news, executive director of marketing, and managing director of NTA Enterprises. The President’s directive means that Dembos and Adewuyi will resume their positions, and the fresh appointments announced earlier will not stand. Bayo Onanuga did not provide further details on the reason behind the President’s decision. The development had brought uncertainty to the NTA’s leadership structure, but it is expected that Dembos and Adewuyi will provide stability and continuity in the agency’s operations.
