PDP CONDEMNS CHRISTMAS EVE MARKET EXPLOSION, ACCUSES GOVERNMENT OF FAILURE

The Peoples Democratic Party has issued a stern condemnation of the explosion at a mosque in Gamboru Market, Maiduguri, describing it as one attack too many in a climate of rising insecurity. The party stated that the protection of lives and property is the irreducible minimum duty of any government, an obligation it claims the current administration has failed woefully to meet. In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, mnipr, the party said the incident is a sad reminder of the unfortunate contemporary reality Nigerians face. “This is totally unacceptable; the irreducible minimum the government should offer its people is the protection of lives and property. This administration has failed woefully in this respect and should rise to the occasion rather than resort to rhetoric and playing politics with security,” Comrade Ini Ememobong stated. The party commiserated with families who lost loved ones in what it termed a senseless attack. “No one should lose their life while worshipping God. If these attacks on places of worship continue unchecked, they will not only violate the constitutional right of Nigerians to freely worship but will also create an atmosphere of fear that threatens the very fabric of our religious society,” Ememobong said. The PDP called on the Federal and State Governments to take immediate and practical steps to protect citizens throughout the yuletide season and beyond. Ememobong insisted that Nigerians deserve more than empty promises and political rhetoric, demanding concrete, actionable security strategies on the ground. He asserted that the escalating insecurity has become unbearable and must be confronted with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.
