GUNMEN KILL CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER AND SON IN RIVERS STATE

A tragic incident occurred recently, in Igwuruta-Ali, near Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where Richard Timothy, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, and his 23-year-old son, Silas, were brutally murdered by unknown gunmen. According to Timothy’s widow, Grace, about five gunmen dressed in black attire attacked her husband as they drove into their residence. Grace recounted the horrific event, saying, “Around 9 pm, we went to get some things. As we were coming and about entering the house, we called my son to open the gate. As he opened the gate, we were about to enter, we saw people in black, fully armed entering with us in their car.” She explained that the gunmen started shooting, killing her husband and son. The gunmen later took Grace into a nearby bush, requesting that she give them money. She said, “I was able to escape to the backyard. They came there, saw me, and took me out of the compound towards the bush, like 50 meters from the house. At that time, I knew there was no hope for me again.” Grace stated that her husband had received multiple threats from individuals opposed to his stance against the looting of properties at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that they received a distress call from Timothy’s daughter and immediately dispatched officers to the scene. The police recovered three expended AK-47 ammunition and rushed the victims to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead. The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, has directed the deployment of necessary intelligence to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice. Grace appealed to Nigerians, saying, “I don’t want my husband to die in vain because he fought for the truth.”

FCT POLICE LAUNCH INVESTIGATION INTO ABDUCTION AND ASSAULT IN CHIKAKORE COMMUNITY

The FCT Police Command has launched an investigation into a case of abduction and assault that occurred in the Chikakore community on January 27, 2025. In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the command received a distress call at about 1:00 A.M. regarding the incident. In the statement by SP Josephine Adeh, preliminary investigations revealed that seven unknown men, disguised as vigilante members and armed with machetes and sticks, attacked the residence of the victim. “The suspects deceived him into opening his gate, after which they abducted him and three members of his family,” Josephine Adeh said. A neighbor who attempted to intervene sustained injuries during the attack and was promptly rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for medical attention. The FCT Police Command has commenced a comprehensive search and rescue operation aimed at securing the safe recovery of the abducted victims and apprehending the perpetrators of this criminal act. The FCT Police Command is calling on residents of the Chikakore community and the general public to remain calm and vigilant. “Any useful information that could assist the investigation and rescue efforts should be promptly reported to the police,” Josephine Adeh said. GUNMEN KIDNAP SEVEN PEOPLE IN BWARI AREA COUNCIL OF ABUJA

A daring kidnapping incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted seven people, including a man, his wife, son, and two others, in the Chikakore area of Kubwa. The kidnappers, numbering about 30 and armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the residence of one Adefija Michael Akinropo in the community at around 12:00 am. They abducted Adefija, his wife, son, and elder brother. In a separate incident, the gunmen also attacked a building housing a poultry farm in the same area. They kidnapped a man and injured his wife, who attempted to resist the attackers. The FCT Police Command has been informed of the incident, and an investigation is currently underway. When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, promised to provide more information about the incident. “Let me get details from the DPO, I will get back to you,” she said. The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. The kidnapping incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of residents in the area.
