POWER OUTAGE HITS MAKURDI AFTER RAINSTORM
Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, is currently experiencing a widespread power outage due to a rainstorm that caused significant damage to the electricity infrastructure. The strong winds and heavy rainfall resulted in the collapse of several electricity poles, leading to a complete disruption of power supply in the area. Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JEDC) has acknowledged the issue and is working to restore power as quickly as possible. The company’s technical team has been deployed to the affected areas to begin repair work. “We are doing everything possible to restore power to our customers in Makurdi,” said Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, Head of Corporate Services at JEDC, Benue State. “We urge our customers to bear with us as we work to resolve the issue.” In the meantime, JEDC is appealing to the public and security agencies to help protect electricity installations from vandalism, which could further complicate the restoration efforts. The company is committed to restoring power to the affected areas as soon as possible.
