PRESIDENT TINUBU CONDEMNS BORNO SUICIDE ATTACK, MOURNS VICTIMS OF KANO EXPLOSION
President Bola Tinubu has expressed anguish over the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, describing the attack as cowardly. In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President mourned those who lost their lives in the attack. Bayo Onanuga said President Tinubu urged security agencies to double their efforts in routing remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents who resort to attacks on soft targets as a diversionary tactic. “The President mourned those who lost their lives, describing the attack as cowardly,” Onanuga said. The President condoled with the Government and people of Borno State over the incident and directed the National Emergency Management Agency to support survivors. Onanuga added that President Tinubu stressed the importance of workplace safety measures when he sympathised with the families of those killed or injured by an explosion on Saturday morning in Kano. The Kano explosion at a scrap metal factory affected 15 people, with five of them losing their lives. Onanuga said President Tinubu tasked relevant government institutions with investigating the incident. “The President stressed the importance of workplace safety measures and tasked relevant government institutions with investigating the incident,” he said. Tinubu’s directives come as the nation grapples with the rising tide of insecurity, particularly in the Northeast, where Boko Haram insurgents continue to wreak havoc on innocent lives and property.
