NIGERIA’S FIRST LADY CONDOLES WITH VICTIMS OF TANKER EXPLOSION

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed deep sadness over the tanker explosion that occurred on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The incident resulted in the loss of many lives and property. The Karu Bridge tanker explosion was a devastating incident caused by a tanker carrying fuel that lost control and crashed on the Karu Bridge, resulting in a massive explosion and fire. The fire rapidly spread, engulfing and destroying numerous vehicles, with reports indicating varying numbers of deaths and vehicles destroyed. In a statement, Senator Tinubu commiserated with the Minister of the FCT, His Excellency Nyesome Wike, the families of the deceased and injured, and the people of Abuja. “I urge owners and drivers of vehicles, especially articulated vehicles, to ensure the road worthiness and good condition of their vehicles before putting them on the road to avert a reoccurrence of such incidences,” she stated. Senator Tinubu prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in eternal peace and for their families and friends to have the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. She also wished the injured a speedy recovery. The incident caused significant traffic disruption and panic among residents and commuters. Emergency responders, including fire services and security agencies, were deployed to the scene to contain the fire and manage the situation. Investigations into the cause of the accident are underway. This is not the first time Senator Tinubu has shown compassion to victims of tragic incidents. Earlier this year, she donated N100 million to support victims of the tragic tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Niger State.
